We are inviting you to participate in the Rainbow Ambassador for children's anthology by Zimbabwean children from age 6-12. Read the summary below so that you understand the background behind the children's anthology.
What is an Anthology
An anthology is a collection of poems, songs or stories grouped together either by the writer or an editor or compiler.
From a very tender age, children like playing the “Pretend game. “ In the game they come up with characters and the roles the characters play. The different creative story lines they come up with daily are amazing. When a child tells a story or makes one up they do it with such passion enthusiasm. They try and demonstrate with their body language and gestures as much as they can in a bid to try and make you feel the story as they will be feeling it. If they give you a role in their pretend game they expect you to do it next to perfection. Imagine what they could come up with if they were given a chance to put that passion into writing.
It’s unfortunate that their talent often goes unnoticed and with the passage of time the creativity just disappears without reaching its full potential. Has anyone ever wondered what this creativity could mature into if it were to be nurtured from that tender age into adulthood. Writing comes along with a sense of responsibility and achievement. Children can also develop other skills in the process that can be beneficial to them in the future e.g. planning & organizing, decision making, good judgement and accuracy and punctuality to mention but a few.
This book aims to bring out the talent and creativity that often goes unnoticed in children. We hope that in writing their stories the children will be able to express themselves and let their voices be heard. We also hope to raise highly skilled confident future leaders through the skills they would have acquired in the process .
