3 Reasons You Are Off The Track As A Writer

Mark is a writer who does not always like to write, he battles with words, titles daily, although he works at the city mall as the mall supervisor, he still finds a few minutes to sit at his personal computer to scribbles a few words. Albeit, he is daunted by his inability to complete his drafts - his archives are full of incomplete drafts.

Like Mark, many people who love to write find it difficult to live in the writer's world. Some people think the writer's world is a fantasy; a place few people can live in; only individuals who listen to the voices in their head can be there.

Losing your pace as a writer does not always signify the writer's block, it could also signify discouragement. Discouragement is the result of distractions. Distractions from work, school or family, which could damage your dream as a writer. Besides distractions, there are a few things that can take you off track as a writer.

Here are some of them:
1. It’s not the right time.

Successful writers do not wait for the right time to write, because there is never a right time. Thinking and waiting for the right time hinders your consistency and focus.

2. Writing is hard work, yet writers don't earn enough
Writers don't earn enough, is nothing but a myth. Think of great writers like Stephen King, JK Rowling, George Orwell, Maya Angelou, they did not write only to while away time, they wrote to make an impact, their pen was their instrument to make money.

When next a person says, "writers do not earn enough to pay their bills", you ought to reply, "thanks, but let me take my best shot at it."

If you are discouraged, you would never earn enough from writing, not today or tomorrow. You need to change your mindset about how you allow other people to control your life.

3. It has all been written
Your story has not been written. Your story is different from mine. Take your pen, listen to your muse, write for your audience, write to yourself, find a serene environment to jot down the birds feeling in the sky. Your story comes from within, that is why nobody has ever said your own kind of story.

To stay on track, you need to avoid friends who discourage you from your writing career, they might discourage you in other areas too. You need to be among people who support your dream and your journey to success.
